In
Japan, private car sales are discouraged by law, and auctions are vital
to the car trade. Auto
auctions are not open to the general public, but reserved to members
of the car trade network. Vehicle status and background is thoroughly
inspected and advanced computerized bidding, allows each car sale
be over in seconds

Pictures
and inspection reports, unbiased and reliable, are accessible over the
internet to registered members. Thus, physical
attendance to auctions is not mandatory, to trade cars from Japan.
We do however, pride ourselves in confirming condition report
details, either in person or through our local agents, prior to a
purchase |
|
Auction prices often
start low, to attract bidders attention but finish prices are
predictable, determined by objective factors such as age and condition,
but also color & trends. In recent years,
overseas buyers & exporters influence on market direction increased
strongly |

A JAPANESE TRADITION |
|
By
tradition and law, used cars in
Japan are not exchanged between private citizens. It has always
been the protected privilege of authorized dealers, trading used cars via
auctions houses, kept discreetly hidden from the public eyes. Auction houses,
ranging from modest operations selling just a few hundreds cars per week,
to
giant ones offering thousands units per session, have been operating throughout Japan
for nearly 4 decades.
The 3
largest auction houses in Japan, each own about 14 auction halls
nationwide. USS (Used System Solution),
the current Japanese auction leader, processes approximately 50,000 vehicles
weekly.

THE
ADVENT OF THE NET |
|
In recent years,
auction houses gradually went online with their own auction website, allowing
members to preview and
purchase cars over the internet. Japan is an archipelago, where a large variety of climates and terrains
coexist, and where
travel can be costly. One result of online auction
generalization was to reduce the need for physical travel and to
somewhat erase price
variations between different areas of Japan.
Access to an ever increasing amount of automotive data, resulting in additional
supply and variety, reduced the need for heavy overheads and proved a major bonus
to Japanese traders and their
overseas buyers.

NATIONWIDE
PORTAL |
|
Due to the number of competing organizations joining the online
scene, a situation gradually developed where an increasing number
of registrations and site monitoring became necessary to keep
track of market trends & supply. Multiple memberships, ID & passwords,
were required, to only glance at a part of the whole picture.
This situation was calling for rectification, which came in the form of
AS-Net.
The only nationwide
auto auction portal is a respected organization. AS-Net membership
is not easily given to any new comer. For members buying through
them, AS-Net takes responsibility for each and every car listed by any
auction house on their network. We access and can purchase without
limitation, from approximately 60 auction houses (including JUAA & USS,
GAO, etc.,) or over 500,000 cars monthly.

& PRE AUCTION |
|
AS-Net portal
offers an English version, in addition to which we provide relentless
assistance to understand, verify, check and double check, every
important detail. Our customers don't have to fumble through inaccurate
search forms and outdated price data. In addition to classic bidding
auctions, many cars are offered at fixed price pre-auction sales (One

need for cost estimates, bid guessing and waiting. Viewing and purchasing
AS-Net portal cars, is available 7 days a
week, 24 hours a day.
Accessing to the same information as we do,
only
streamlined for convenience, our customers are guided through cars
evaluation, bid & purchase decisions. We monitor results and
handle all tasks & procedures until shipping
cars to destination. We never use bidding software or
automated forms, leaving no room for mistake or missed opportunities

PURCHASING
TIPS |
|
The rule of
thumb is to always go after the best possible cars. Contrary
to what might be expected, most export oriented dealers compete for low
priced, average quality cars, which are often easier to sell (to price obsessed
people). We like to say; "good cars are cheap" (foresee
less repairs). Less relative competition for the top quality items
yields to better long term investment.
Also to remember,
" you
cannot bid against yourself", meaning your maximum authorized bid
does not necessarily need be spent, because a winning bid is only one
increment above the
second best offer. When a truly suitable
candidate is found, we
suggest allowing a generous maximum bid to avoid missing it.
Unlike other online auctions, Japan trade auto auctions are not open to the
general public, there is no room for scams & frauds, cars are sold at
their fair price.
